Chase Field Facts
Construction on the stadium began Nov. 16 1995. It took construction
crews over two years to to complete the structure, at a cost
of $354 million dollars.
In order for baseball to exist in the Arizona heat, a dome
was an essential part of the design. Designers came up with
a retractable roof design so the park could have both air conditioning
and real grass.
A 8000-ton cooling system is used to cool the building to a
comfortable 72°. This system could cool the equivalent of 2500 homes!
Chase Field can hold over 48,000 baseball fans! The building
has seen this a few times in it's history including the Inaugural
game in 1998 and the Diamondbacks several playoff runs in since.
